Our Recent Developments: Simplified Thinking Processes

Jelena has developed and over the last few years extensively used the Simplified Thinking Processes (Simplified TP) for various companies in the formant of Solution Development Sessions with management teams.

Simplified TP allow management teams to:

  • quickly find effective and immediately doable solutions to their persistent problems;

  • maintain high level of involvement and enthusiasms of managers during the process;

  • acquire the mechanics of working with the tools straight in the process of solution development.

Use of the Simplified TP:

  • significantly increases the value of managers and management consultants;

  • significantly increase their portfolio of developed solutions for various problems,

  • enhances their ability to recognize and develop solutions in new situations.

Simplified TP contain the same logical rigor as the Full  TP.

SIMPLIFIED Thinking Processes Tools allow the user to come to an effective Injection within minutes, rather than hours or days that Full TP Tools require.

The ultimate objective of central TOC TP tools is to find a sustainable and risk-free solution (INJECTION) and outline the way of implementing it.

However, while working brilliantly, regular TOC TP tools (Full TP) take a long time to come to an Injection.

For regular TOC TP tools to be successfully applied and taught, people who go through this process should:

  • Enjoy “going inside” their situation for detailed and structured understanding of what drives what in their system;

  • NOT feel threatened by examining their own thinking and exposing their assumptions to others;

  • Have patience to go through several iterations of the analysis of the same issue and multiple repetitions for the same process for several different issues;

  • Have time that requires to go through this process.

However, the reality is different:

  • The time span that can be used for finding solutions with the help of TP is limited;

  • Tediousness and multiple repetitions in the use of regular TP quickly bring people to lose enthusiasm, get discouraged, and disengage.

Simplified TP allow managers to develop robust quality solutions while drastically saving their time and capacity.

How can one learn Simplified Thinking Processes?

1. Solution Development Sessions for Management Teams

Fully customized dedicated online or on-site Development Sessions allow management teams to:

2. Online program ’Simplified Thinking Processes – a Shortcut to Injections’

The program can be conducted as a dedicated program for one company or as an open program.

8 Online Sessions, a session once a week, each session is 3 hours including a 15-minute break.

Session 1:       5 steps of Thinking Production Process. The 3-step process to get a quality input for Simplified Thinking Processes from the company situation.

Sessions 2-3:  Simplified UDE Cloud. One-page Injection design. Predetermined assumptions.

Session 4:       Simplified NBR: a Shortcut to the Injection point.

Session 5:       The algorithm of making Injections happen.

Session 6:       Simplified Two-Sided Interest Conflict Cloud. The new effective algorithm to replace 6 Layers of Resistance – working with people.

Sessions 7-8:  Branch “3 What For?”

Full Thinking Processes 2.0

Since 2010 Jelena Fedurko-Cohen has extensively generated and published massive new knowledge on how to drastically improve quality of working with the FULL set of  Thinking Processes.

This new knowledge includes:

  • the typology of frequent mistakes and difficulties in constructing different types of Clouds (in structure, wording and logic);

  • the typology of mistakes in surfacing assumptions under logical connections in the Cloud;

The objective of the 4-module program Thinking Processes 2.0 is to give participants thorough exposure to the new knowledge and to take them through rigorous practicing of rules and techniques with the objective of building and formalizing THE DECISIVE COMPETITIVE STRATEGY FOR THEIR SYSTEMS.

The online program is conducted by Jelena Fedurko-Cohen for mini-groups or on one-to one basis. Each module is conducted as 6 sessions of 3.5 hours each.

Module 1 (6 x 3.5 hours): Dilemma Cloud, Two-Sided Conflict Cloud, Assumptions, Developing Injections

  • the typology of frequent mistakes and difficulties in constructing different types of Clouds (in structure, wording and logic);
  • the typology of mistakes in surfacing assumptions under logical connections in the Cloud;
  • the rules to recognize and avoid such mistakes and overcome difficulties;
  • the meaning and mechanics of assumptions behind
  • clear instructions how to produce better quality Clouds and assumptions;
  • the detailed process of challenging assumptions and developing Injections;
  • working with a chronic conflict between the two equal parties: the new knowledge on working with the Two-Sided Conflict Cloud

Module 2 (6 x 3.5 hours): System Analysis: UDEs, UDE Cloud, Consolidation

Completion of Module 1 is a prerequisite to participate in Module 2.

  • the typical mistakes and difficulties in constructing UDE Clouds and how to avoid them;

Module 3 (6 x 3.5 hours): Negative Branch Reservation (NBR),Positive Branch, Obstacles and IOs, Layers of  Resistance 

  • the more straightforward, robust and significantly faster process of constructing a good quality Negative Branch;
  • the quick and reliable process of building a Positive Branch to identify all necessary conditions for achieving an ambitious target;
  • working with Obstacles and Intermediate Objectives
  • the techniques for recognizing the Layer of Resistance from the language the person uses in response to a suggestion;
  • the techniques for reconstructing Clouds and assumptions from a suggestion/Injection/idea.

Module 4 (6 x 3.5 hours): Building a good Strategy and Tactic Tree

Completion of Modules 1, 2 and 3 is a prerequisite to participate in Module 4. 

  • the techniques for justifying a suggestion/decision;
  • the rules and techniques for constructing the S&T structure;
  • the rules for vertical relationship between the boxes (steps) in the S&T Tree;
  • the rules and techniques for the correct content of the 5 entities of the S&T box (step);
